Caitlin regularly advises clients attempting to avoid or resolve disputes that arise within families after the decline in capacity or death of a family member and, for disputes that cannot be avoided, represents clients in probate and trust disputes, including contested probate claims, proceedings against trustees and personal representatives, and modification, dissolution, or reformation of trust agreements.

Caitlin is able to advise on a wide range of tax matters, including tax planning (for individuals and companies, and including business succession), tax transactions to achieve a client’s tax goals and advising on how to structure a transaction to meet a client’s tax goals, and tax controversy matters.
Caitlin represents both individuals and businesses in resolving tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service, Oregon Department of Revenue, Washington Department of Revenue, and local tax authorities (for example, the City of Portland) at audit, on appeal, in tax court, and on collection. She also routinely advises businesses on tax compliance strategies for both federal taxes and state and local taxes, including Oregon income tax and Washington business and occupation tax and sales tax.
